Madrid, 2 November 2026. Spanish driver Álvaro Carretón will race at the F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026 – Cup of Nations, an international event that brings some of the world’s best sim racers to Mumbai, India, from 6 to 11 November.
Carretón joins Daniel Moreno, 2021 F1 Sim Racing world champion with Mercedes-AMG, in Team Spain Red, one of two Spanish line-ups in a 19-team field competing for a 100,000-dollar prize pool.
Eight years at Williams Racing
Carretón spent eight years at Williams Racing, the longest any driver has stayed with a single team in F1 Sim Racing.
Across his F1 Sim Racing Series career he has made 77 starts and scored more than 241 points, with five podiums, two pole positions and eleven top-five finishes.
A partnership that started at Williams
Carretón won’t be taking on Mumbai alone. Engineer Javier Guerra will be at his side, renewing a working relationship that began in 2018, when Carretón joined Williams Racing as a driver and Guerra was the team manager.
Eight years on, the pair reunite on the international stage, this time as part of Carretón’s own F1 Sim Racing India Open project.
Their time together at Williams gives them a strong foundation for this new chapter. Throughout the competition, Guerra will provide technical and strategic support from the engineer’s seat, working directly with Carretón during every race session.
Team Spain Red, alongside world champion Daniel Moreno
The two will form one of Spain’s pairings at the Cup of Nations, where every team is made up of two drivers and both drivers’ results count towards the team’s overall standing.
Spain is also represented by Team Spain White, featuring Ismael Fahssi and Alejandro Loureiro.
100,000 dollars on the line
The F1 Sim Racing India Open: Cup of Nations brings 38 drivers to Mumbai’s NSCI Dome, split into 19 teams of two.
The grid is made up of 36 invited international drivers plus the top two finishers from the F1 Sim Racing India Open National Championship, with teams grouped mainly by nationality and region.
Racing runs from 7 to 9 November in an elimination format: an Opening Round, an Upper Bracket, two Lower Bracket stages and a Grand Final. Every stage before the final is decided over three races, while the four-race Grand Final will crown the Cup of Nations champions.
With 100,000 dollars in prize money, the event is one of the biggest international sim racing competitions of 2026, bringing together some of the sport’s top talent.
